Greg
Taff has pursued his passion for travel since he
planned his first international trip at 16, and
has continued traveling ever since. At 33, Greg
is proficient in 4 languages and has traveled extensively
throughout the U.S. and 30 other countries on 4
continents. He is particularly drawn to Northern
Europe, where he has lived and traveled for nearly
two years.
In addition to running Taff Tours, Greg Taff is a doctoral
candidate in geography at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill. With a Fulbright Fellowship
and a grant from NASA, Greg has conducted environmental
research in Latvia’s Gauja National Park.
He expects to receive his PhD in 2005.
Greg is also a semi-professional piano player and singer,
having performed in restaurants and bars in Riga,
Latvia and Stockholm, Sweden, as well as in North
Carolina. He writes songs and arranges music in
folk and jazz styles. Greg also enjoys teaching
piano to students ages 6 to 66.
Greg was born in The Netherlands to American parents
and grew up near Chicago. He is an alumnus of the
Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and earned
an A.B. in mathematics from Dartmouth College and
an M.A. in statistics from Columbia University.
After a stint on Wall Street, where he worked on
the Commodities Exchange Floor and for Chase Manhattan
Bank, he moved to North Carolina and began his doctoral
work at UNC.
For recreation Greg likes squash, swimming, biking,
skiing, is a bit of a film buff and, of course,
likes to travel. Greg makes his home in Carrboro,
NC, where he has set up the Taff Tours headquarters.
